Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

Strategic Plan and deployment

The dream of our national father of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi Ji in his seminal work, ‘Hind Swaraj’ the western development paradigm, based on centralized technologies and urbanization, has given rise to serious problems like increasing inequity (leading to crime and violence), and climate change due to rapid ecological degradation. To ameliorate these problems, it is necessary to promote development of rural areas in tune with Gandhi vision of self-sufficient ‘village republics’ based on local resources and using decentralized, eco-friendly technologies so that the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, sanitation, health care, energy livelihood, transportation, and education are locally met. The mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a Central Government Programme to enable higher education institutions to work with the people of rural India through identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solution for accelerating sustainable growth. It aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and upgrade the capabilities of both public and private sectors in responding to the developments needs of rural India.

MHRD application format sought information about identified five villages to work upon and a programme co-ordinator of the college. Followed by the direction’s of UBA mission, college adopted five villages namely Tajpur Simbhalka, Balwa, Badhupura, Bhadev kannukhera and Banti Khera Gram Panchayat. Dr. A.K. Gupta Department of Dairy Science & Technology followed by Dr. Rohit Rana from Department of Entomology identified as Co-ordinator for the programme. Further, as per the directions from MHRD, Rashtriya Kisan (PG) College, Shamli has started to work on base line survey of identified villages.

To understand need of village and their problems we meet several times with gram Pradhan, gram secretary, principal of primary schools and villagers and also took a survey regarding these problems. Because cleanliness is very important in human life to stay healthy so to increase the effectiveness of sweeper our college provided a garbage cart in Banti Khera village through Unnat Bharat Abhiyan so that they can clean the road regularly. A pair of dustbins has been installed in each village (namely Tajpur Simbhalka, Balwa, Badhupura, Bhadev kannukhera and Banti Khera) at the place recommended by the village head (Gram Pradhan).
