About the Department
The Department of Zoology is dedicated to the study of animal life, including their structure, function, behavior, classification, ecology and evolution. The department offers an Undergraduate (UG) course in Zoology, designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biological sciences and to develop scientific knowledge, practical skills and research aptitude.
The UG program covers various branches of zoology such as animal diversity, cell biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, evolution and developmental biology. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience through laboratory work, field studies and project-based learning.
The department is equipped with well-maintained laboratories, specimen collections, charts, models, and microscopes to support effective teaching and learning. Field visits, seminars, workshops and guest lectures are regularly organized to enhance students’ understanding of wildlife, biodiversity and environmental conservation.
The faculty members of the department are experienced and dedicated to guiding students in academic learning, research activities and career development. The department encourages students to develop scientific thinking, observation skills and awareness of ecological and environmental issues.
Graduates of the UG Zoology program can pursue higher education in zoology and related fields or explore careers in research, teaching, wildlife conservation, environmental management, healthcare and biotechnology.
